I just bought this boat in april of this year, the guy I bought this from showed me a receipt stating that he had just put a new fuel/ oil pump and a primer on, he said the alarm went off ,last fall.So the last time we went out,my alarm sounded once, the boat kept running and I didnt think nothing of it,but when we went to the landing, about a half hour later, the boat quit and it wont start,it turns over but doesnt fire.Could the fuel/oil pump be bad again?I didnt even use the boat 20 times this year. How could I check it out? thank you for your time. kpagel@aol.com[/EMAIL]

Welcome Kenny!

Check the spark at each cylinder first. Each spark should jump a 1/2" gap with a hot thick lighting like spark. Usually when an engine quits like this, the ignition system has failed. If the spark is good, take a spray bottle of premix and remove the carb cover. Spary some premix into the throats and see if it fires. If it does, probably a fuel flow problem.

I would also suggest a service manual. It can tell you a lot about the engine and it's care.

OEM's are the preferred manual and can be bought from Ken Cook Co., the outboardwizard or marine.com. Just do a search.

Generics can be bought from right here on iboats. Just look at the bottom of the page.
