1991 250 yamaha,Good Motor?

Hello,I was going to look at a 250 Yamaha 2 stroke for sale I was told that it was a 91,Just wondering if there are any known problems with this motor.thanks Terry

a few had some stator problems, most were replaced under warrenty. other than that take a careful look at the shift shaft and remember its an old motor and most likly a bit salty.

Also the heads on many of those models were highly suscetable to internal corrosion and may need to be replaced as well as the shift shaft.
