Like the title states:
1990 1778 WW YarCraft

1989 90HP 2-stroke Yamaha

I'm hoping someone can help me out with what may be wrong or how to diagnose what's wrong with my steering cable/wheel etc.

It's difficult to turn the steering wheel one way or another whether I'm underway or in the driveway, there seems to be too much resistance in the steering. Is this normal? I've been in plenty of other boats where the steering wheel turns with ease.

Considering I'm in need of new cables, or something else...how do I determine what's broken or is in need of repair?

Thanks in advance!

First I would look to see if there are any grease zerts anywhere and hit them with a grease gun,...

More than likely the cable is rusted inside the sheath and needs to be replaced,...

That is a great old hull from YarCraft,...................

I absolutely love the boat. I did a complete restore about 2 years back, the deck, stringers, transom...everything. I have 0 complaints about and am really glad I went through all of the work of getting it back to where it should be.

Grease didn't help, so I'll be replacing the cable.

Thanks for the reply/info.
