1990 Merc V6, no electrical to ignition

I have a 1990 Celebrity bowrider with a mec v-6. Last time out it stalled 100 yards into our day and then would not turn over. The electrical to the stereo and such would work but the engine would not turn, just sputter and die after a few seconds.

After some research, i thought I might need to replace the fuel filters. well today I went out to replace them but couldnt even get the boat to try and start. The prop will raise but no other electrical activity is happening.

Any suggestions?

Dead battery, dirty cables. Sounds like basic lack of electricity.

Sounds to me like it's a basic maintenance problem. It also sounds to me like you are unfamiliar with basic maintenance procedures. If I were you I would take it in for a service. You may find that there's a lot more that needs to be done to keep your boat ship shape and safe.
