I have a 1990 Mariner 60 hp on my 1990 Alumacraft mavrick. I bought the boat three months ago. First time on the water ran great for about and hour running up and down river just testing the boat out. Second time I took it out, a buddy of mine backed me into the water and i fired it up and it ran perfect. We drove across the lake then it died as if i turned the key off. It would not start back up. I said "forget it" and we fished for a few hours and trolled around. It still would not start. He started trolling us back down river and i was looking at the motor. Pulled a plug on the water and the motor had no spark.

Today I had time after work to look at it and start testing. After doing some youtube and google searches im very confused about this motor. I have a black stator and a switch box? I Believe. Ive tested wires but im not sure they are the correct wires. I have scoured the internet in search of service manuals with no luck. I have another 1990 mariner 70 hp i can use for parts if they are the same. that one runs but isnt mine. but i was told i can swap parts to get mine going.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am stumped.

There is a mercury tilt switch connected to the kill wire. Make sure the kill wire is not grounded.
