1990 Johnson 140 water coming out of where lower unit meets mid section

I recently replaced the water pump (kit) and the seal and o-rings under the pump in my johnson 140 I put it back together and fired it up. Warm water is coming out of the tell tale but also out of the crease between the the lower unit and mid sections when running on muffs. Is this normal/OK?

Thanks,
Dan

I am fairly certain I installed it correctly. Pretty much step by step by the one the top secret thread. A Little different only because I had the whole power head off at the time (rebuild).

You are saying water comes out the seam where the lower unit meets the exhaust housing?? Completely normal and not to worry.

Thank you for the replies...I tried to shoot video when I got home but the batteries on the boat were dead. I have had them on a trickle charge overnight and will try again today.

The good news .......It means the water pump is working fine ;) It happens on MANY MANY outboards. As long as the pump is working, the tell tale is working and the heads are not hot.....you are fine.

I'm too inexperienced to give advice, so this is just a bump....but that doesn't look right. I get why the OP is pursuing this. More experienced users: is that really normal?

My 115 does that too. Not a lot, but it does. I asked one of the techs at a local shop about too. He said it was pretty normal. But that was just his opinion.

Looks ok to me.
The motor took a while to start up though

It was pretty cold when I started it...later on my neighbor came over and it started as soon as I got the key all the way cranked
