Some of our peeps were going to take the Boston Whaler 13 out to meet us at the big boat yesterday, but they had trouble with the engine (Evinrude 25 HP 1990 vintage).
The boat would not go above idle speed and then there was a loud screeching noise (maybe an alarm of some sort) coming from the throttle/shift control. The boat had not been running very long (maybe a few minutes). So they shut it down and put the boat away.
This engine, being 1990 ish, I am not aware of any sophisticated electronics - and I have yet to look at it. But . . . I thought I would post the question to see if there is some sort of a thing that would cause an alarm (or loud noise) from an 'old-school' control box ?
