1990 Evinrude 3 heavy duty portable

I have a 1990 Evinrude 3hp that is overheating quickly for some reason. It is a 2cycle 2 cylinder with one carburetor. manufactured in 1990 and is the Evinrude 3 part of the heavy duty portables line the made. Here is the whole story:
I got the motor and it ran pretty good and started fairly easy but, at full throttle it would bog down every few minutes. I took the carb off and cleaned it well then replaced it and started it and let it run for a short time. I took it out to the lake and ran it the next day and it over heated badly about 200 yards from the dock? I assume this is a air-cooled engine as I can not find where it would pump water like on a large outboard. The other thing is i added a capful of lucas oil to the gas but, can't see how that could have made it overheat. I mix my fuel 50:1. This motor only has a low speed needle adjustment could I have adjusted it wrong? thanks for any help guys.

Pull down the gearcase and change impeller.
If a saltwater engine, look out for the upper watertube grommet.

The impeller was completely torn up thanks for the help

Yes, it took some looking but I got it all out ran good in the barrel last night. I'm going to put it in the lake today for a turn test run. I also changed the foot oil last night as some leaked out while I had the foot apart.

i had 2 of this motors.

to change impeler you dont have to pul apart gear case,
just pul down lower unit, secured to midsection by 2 bolts,
take ot this bolts and pull down lower unit.
where midsection meets powerhead, inside, on upper part of water tube is some kind of gromet,its worth to look at this grommet,
if its salt motor also is good to put new head gasket and clean water passage at head
