I replaced the interior panels in my boat, and now can't get my shift lever to move. It was working fine before I reassembled the shift mechanism. I am wondering if I removed the lever with it not in neutral, and put it back into neutral? Or vice versa. I can spin the prop by hand so I am assuming it is in neutral? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Disconnect the shift and throttle cables from the motor, try shifting it and see what happens.

Go to shop.evinrude.com , look up the parts break down of your control and see if something is out of place or broken.

I have never opened it up, just removed the lever to remove the interior panel. I am hesitant to open it up but will try it as a last resort I guess.

If that's all you did then try the lever in a different position.

I still say look at a parts break down as I haven't got the box in front of me. Wish I did.
