It could be....what you have to do is try and calculate how much it will cost you TOTAL to get the boat running....I'm not sure about outdrive work and I dont know if you will be paying someone or doing it yourself....but look at the initial $1000 investment + what it will cost you to get it on the water and add them together. Now can you buy another boat already water ready for the same price?

That said, its a 1990 boat which is old but not ancient, Chris Craft is a good name, if you can get on the water without spending more than and additional 2K (3K total investment) i'd say you did alright.

Well...... I am of a different opinion.

I am not fond of the obsolete - no longer made outdrives. BEFORE you invest money ........ find a mechanic who is qualified to work on an omc (many will no longer touch them) AND establish what exact parts you may need because some are hard to find.

The price point difference between an older boat with an OMC vs a mercruiser or volvo is that way for a good reason.

Ayuh,.... I agree with Bob,... If it were powered by anything But an OMC it'd be a Good deal...
If you spent Twice that to fix the drive, it'll be a lousy deal...

OMC has been Dead, 'n Gone for over 10 Years now...
