All,
I just purchased a 1990 Astro Quickfire 17SC and this is my first powerboat so I have some questions. The boat has a 90hp Mercury outboard which to my knowledge is the motor that came on the boat.
Question 1: Is this a 2 stroke or 4 stroke?
I have attached a picture of the motor for reference. There is a tube going into the bottom of the motor above the prop which I'm guessing is putting oil into the gears but honestly being knew to this I don't know. There does seem to be a bit of oil leaking out and down around the tube and fitting I mentioned above which I doubt will be visible in the image. Anything to worry about?
Question 2: This is a general question for other Astro boat owners....Anything specific to watch out for?
Obviously the more similar boat you have the more pertinent but I'm wondering. I do believe the people I purchased the boat from did take good care of it but being from 1990 I just want to be prepared.
