Hi. Is anyone familiar with the small hose that comes off the nipple behind the water pump on the L.U. and travels up over the transom and ends in a small plastic insert nipple usually in the splash well? Ive seen them quite often just sitting there with O.B.'s and always assumed it was some sort of vent?? The very end of the smaller nipple insert inside the boat broke today when i dropped a wrench on it. I took the boat out today and at high speed water starting peeing out of this tube much like the tell tale tube. I freaked thinking water was going in my L.U. and coming out this vent but when i got it on the trailer and removed the drain screw golden yellow fresh gear lube came out. Im fimiliar with milk and this was not it thankfully. Can anyone tell me what that tube is and if this is normal and just need to replace the plastic piece i broke? Thank you as always!

It's just the speedometer tube( and you obviously don't have one),so just plug it up and forget it. When I dropped my lower unit to replace my water pump impellar, I plugged mine down there where it comes out of the lower unit. No problem!
