I have a 200hp Mercury black max 2 stroke i was crusing yesterday back to the marina and a loud grinding noise followed by the vessel stopping completely I turned off the motor so I wouldn't cause any further damage I tried to turn it over and it started right up but I can hear a clicking noise somewhere in the lower unit when I proceeded to shift it to forward it doesn't feel or go into gear neither in Reverse when I finally had the boat out of the water and home I noticed it was dripping gear lube and there was a crack on the gearcase another detail when I spin the prop by hand while in neutral I can hear a clicking don't know if that helps does anybody have any suggestions on what to do either change the damage bearings or clutch dog and weld the small crack or just go ahead and buy a lower unit
