Hi, I am new here. Hope you gurus can help me out :)
I am thinking to buy one of these. Which one is more reliable? assuming the conditions are the same.

For price, the Yamaha is about CAD $1000 more. Worth the money?

Thanks

All things being equal the 2oo3 Yamaha without a doubt. But it comes down to maintenance.

Yamaha has a MUUUUCH better oil injection system. It is overall a better motor.

Thanks, so Evinrude 1990 70HP is VRO, and 2003 Yamaha also has oil injection system, so no need to mix oil to gas for both. And in this regards, Yamaha's oil injection is much better than Evinrude's VRO?

Yamahas oil injection is heads and tails above OMCs Vro system. Is the the VRO even hooked up on the Evinrude? Vro is not a bad system but requires more Maint.

It is, he said it is working fine, and he also add some oil to gas just in case VRO fails. Looks like the Yamaha guys wants more $$$, so it is probably CAD 1.5K or 2K over evinrude

The Yamaha uses a gear drive oil injection that has been on their snowmobiles since the 70s. The Evinrude is a stronger overall runner but I think the Yamaha is a slightly better motor because of the oil injection.

Im a huge evinrude weenie, lol. That being said if both motors are the same condition i would go with the yamaha just because its 10 plus years newer. The vro has lasted 21 years so far so i would not worry too much if you decided on the rude.Heres something to consider in the parts availability dept.At the time of the birth of that evinrude they sold as many outboards as all other mfg,s combined!I have not seen a 70 yamaha for ages, but every time i go fishing i see a 70 rude in my area of canada.

Depends on whether you do your own service work.----Sometimes parts / used parts are easier to find for Evinrude.-----Number of hours on the motor / condition also mean a lot.
