I recently purchased a 1989 Maxum 1700xr. I paid way too much for it.. It came with a 1989 85hp Force which blew 20 minutes into the first lake voyage. I am currently having the motor look at by a second mechanic. the first mechanic told me it was blown. My buddy is a mechanic and told me that some mechanics will tell you its toast because they dont want to work on older motors. SO hopefully he can get the motor back in the water.. My question is, I had plans on restoring this boat, interior, deck, stringers, etc before the motor blew.. Is this year and model boat worth restoring? or repowering if the motor is blown? or did i purchase a pinto and cut my loses... I paid $1800 for everything

Patience! I am really unsure of what you are looking for. It appears to me you are seeking someone to validate your actions with your boat.

Before you go too far I would concentrate on the motor as everyone else told you in your other thread.

I know bob.. its just hard... I was so excited to get out on the water with my very own machine and then 20 minutes later I am being towed back to the Marine.. I am just not taking this well.. I will try to be patient...
