I have been using my 1989 force 125 all summer with no problems. Last week it left me at the marina fuel pump unable to go into forward and making gear noises, after backing away from the pier (goes into reverse without any problems), I removed the cover and manual pushed the linkage and it went into forward without hesitation. Any help with adjusting or repairing would be appreciated.

Disconnect cable from the motor and see if the cable moves freely in the casing when shifted. Determine if the problem is the cable, the control box, or the linkage attachment on the motor.

Thanks for responding roscoe, I went digging around the linkage prior to seeing your response. I adjusted the rod under the carbs down a little and spent the afternoon on the lake saturday without any problems, then I went to drive it onto the trailer and the same problem started. I'll remove the cable linkage and check for free movement. thanks for your help
