1989 evinrude xp 175 trim problem

actually the trim works fine but the lift cylinder drops under load. for example you can run motor slightly on the lift cylinder but if you put the power to it she drops to the trim cylinders like a rock. makes it a little hard to load on the trailer. Any one else have this problem.I checked the manual lift lock valve but it looked fine.

Welcome

The system is designed to function the way you are describing. The large center hydralic lift will not hold the engine under power, it is not designed to do this.

which also allows the engine to be pushed up when you hit a rock pyle, my brother-in-law showed me this feature in person last week.8) cost him a prop and the need for a skeg guard! but the lower unit was still intacked.
