Hello everyone,
I was sitting here and remember after I rebuilt my carbs this past Saturday that overall the engine ran great except the warning horn but I believe that water flow was not strong enough becuase when I picked my hose up the water was comming out but not that strong until I walked the entire length of my garden hose and found some minor kinks in it then I went back to the motor and picked my garden hose up again and the water flow was stronger so I cranked my motor up and ran it for a while and never got an overheat alarm again and the motor ran great with no warning horn for probaly a good 15 minutes. Well to my question, as the motor was running I decided as gee wez to remove each spark plug wire and make sure I got good spark and I did but when I went to remove #1 Spark plug wire from that spark plug or the port/left top spark plug wire I got a little shock from it nothing major but a little shock from it and I didn't get a shock from the other three spark plug wires. Is the number 1 spark plug wire leaking from the boot maybe when I remove it or is that normal? Thanks again Bob.

Very easy to get shocked drop testing the cylinders in that manner. Get yourself an inline adjustable spark tester, set the gap to 7/16 of an inch, then test. The spark should jump the gap with a bright blue ZAP!!

BTW, I hope you were using insulated pliers that ground out to the block when pulling on the boots.

No, I wasn't, bad boy I am not using insulated pliers. Shame on me. Yes, I pulled the spark plug wire of each spark plug using my fingers, which I shouldn't have. I think my engine is running just fine. I just got paranoid becuase that was the first time I ever rebuilt my carbs on my boat motor. I will see how she does inthe water when she gets put in probably in May time frame whne it is warmer out side here at Mascoutah Illinois. I can't wait though I am itching to go baoting and camping with the family and I am interested in how she is going to run after my first carb rebuild. Like I said she ran great on the muffs this past Saturday very smoothly without any hiccups at all. Before there was some hiccups at first start and she would settle down, now there is none and I am hoping that she idles alot beter than before. I have owned this motor for going on 4 years now and never have rebuilt those carbs before. Thanks again, Bob:)
