1989 evinrude 25 hp lower unit problem part 2

Thanks to some of yalls help I finally got the stripped bolt out of the housing and got the housing removed. Now the new problem that I am in need of a solution to is the edge around where the retaining ring goes is breaking off. Most all of it is broken already and I assume that isnt good. Idk if that is something I can fix or if I am just sol. Any help would be great! Thanks

O sorry I meant to mention that. I had a screw stripped out on my gear case in my 89 evinrude 25 hp. I got the screw out with a puller and when I removed the housing I saw that the threads were on the retaining plate/ housing. I removed the retaining ring and noticed the ring where the retaining ring goes was broken and there were pieces of it still coming off. I just dont know how to fix it or what to do

It is parts 38 and 39. 39 has the threads where the stripped screw was located. I removed it and when I did I noticed the metal groove where part 38 goes is broken and still breaking off.

Stripped threads in #39 is not a problem, just replace #39.
If the metal in the gearcase (#20) is chipping off where #38 fits into it, you have a problem.
#39 is what holds the bearing assembly in place by tensioning against #38, if #38 pops out of the groove it will let the bearing housing move backwards and cause problems. The correct fix would be to replace #2, gearcase housing.

Thats what I was afraid of... do you know anywhere I could look online for used cases? Cause all the parts (aside from #39) are still good so I just need the case to transfer the old parts over to.

Look at the top of the page in the "Top Secret File", there is a list of salvage yards there, I bet one of them can help you out.
