1989 Doral Citation 260 OMC Cobra 5.7L

Hello all.

Thought I’d join here as we have just bought the boat in the title and have enjoyed similar forums in the past for sharing ideas and support. This is our first boat and so I’m learning (and spending ) as fast as I can for the upcoming season on Lake Erie.

I originally came on to try and find the right prop size for this boat but it seems (after trawling threads) I would be better seeing how she performs at WOT and at what RPMs. I certainly would like to carry a spare at least once I know whether to match the current one or change dia/pitch.

Currently I have planned:

• Impeller check/replacement
• Gear oil change
• Fuel filter change
• Engine oil/filter change
• Replacing two batteries

I found the previous owner had two starting batteries for his house and the deep cycle for starting - not sure if he just didn’t know better or if it doesn’t matter too much. The deep cycle was shot though.

Should I be concerned about the calcium build-up on the outdrive (please see attached pic)?

Any advice or just general hellos welcome

Hello I have the exact same boat. I need a new canvas tho. Would you post a photo of the canvas from both sides? I would really appreciate it, I might try to make one ? Ours is in for fixing right now, didn’t get out on it last (covid) summer but can’t wait for this year. We’re a bit unconventional as far as boaters go, have a look!
