This post will talk about the History, Current Progress, and a few questions that I have:
History - This boat started life in Wisconsin docked in lake michigan for several summers. Obviously, on a huge open lake like lake michigan, a 17.5 foot boat gets tossed around quite a bit. So as you can guess, the entire floor was completely rotted.
I finished cutting out the fiberglass supports for the seats and smoothed everything out. I then made a new 3/4 inch plywood floor and coated both sides with rubberized coating and glassed it to the hull. I created seat supports for my new overtons back to back seats and re carpeted the entire boat. Next, I need to recover all the seats and vinyl sides and get the motor running (hasn't run for two years according to the last owner). Motor is an 85 horse force.
Questions:
1. Motor - can anyone point me to a checklist for an 85 horse power force? I am wondering what steps I need to take to correctly start the engine after it sat for so long.
2. Vinyl - I finally figured out that the vinyl is attached in such a way where the attachment screws are between sections of vinyl. Has anyone tried using the old style clips instead of screws? I remember on my 78 ford pickup the panels had clips that went through a hole and expanded on the other side.
3. Motor controls - I can tell the throttle cable attachment is obviously broke. Can anyone show me how this is supposed to attach, what pieces I need, and where I can get them?
Thanks in advance for your help - I restored/fixed up an 89 four winns two years ago and couldn't have done it without you guys.
