Hi,

Recently I replaced a transom on my Bayliner Capri. Work was done by a shop. They did a pretty good job on replacing transom plate and engine mounts as well as reepoxiing everything in the engine bay. Now, I was wondering what is in the transom on outside of the stringers, is it just a foam and fiberglass? Please see picture for reference...

Circled in Red is a transom part that was replaced. Wondering about blue/green selected parts of the transom...

The transom should be a plywood core all the way across, and doubled up at least in that red center section.

The transom is wood all the way across, sandwiched between two fiberglass skins. The wood is doubled up in the center section for the outdrive.

I have the same boat, the wood is only in the red box. the outside is just super thick glass. Look closely and you will see what im saying. that transom is one of the easier ones to replace. cheers, Stu
