My trim pump works fine but the hydraulic shock-ram thing leaks down and drips fluid. Cant his unit be rebuilt? If no can this be replaced with any ram of it's same size?

Well I am not certain if this will work for your application I was able to purchase this item from ebay for $25.00 with free shipping to rebuild my T&T assembly. Maybe someone like Frank Acampora (hope i spelled your name correctly) or Jerryjerry05 could help us determine if this is suitable for your needs.

Try sending a PM to one or both of them for a faster response. They are very knowledgeable in all areas with these outboards and all they're components.

Sending a PM won't get an answer any quicker as I read the posts first. Been busy and just got back on.
That trim ram is made special for that app. RRitt works on the hyd. stuff. Maybe he'll be able to help.
Try taking it apart. Most pieces can be found at Granger or even Harbor Freight. They sell an O-ring assortment.
I see your in Fl. Where?
Not positive the part from the Forces post will work? Post the e-bay link and I can look at it?

I ordered that kit as well. It does not contain the proper O rings for your application. You are better off disassembling the cylinder and trying to find the o rings locally. My cylinder holds position but was leaking fluid. I was able to get one of the O rings to work, but it should have been a little larger. If your cylinder holds position, I wouldn't pull the piston all the way out. What a bear to get it back in!!

That kit looks like it's for the regular T/T unit not the L-drive.

I can pull it off and tear it down. I just wanted to make sure it was capable of being serviced before I took it apart to only make it worse. We have a hydraulic place in town they should have what I need as far as parts. *** long as I can get them to actually "help" me with a $10 purchase. Seems if it's not $200 or more it's a waste of the guys who work in parts time.

Anyone have any idea how these boats drift fish's in 2-4 foot seas? I'm close to the Gulf of Mexico and it's usually pretty smooth BUT I am wondering if it will rock me to sleep or rock me into a green attack if it's got some motion? Kind of worried about side to side pitch and roll when I am drifting over the shallow reefs in hunt of what ever will bite.

JerryJerry....I am in Lake City FL. I took it of and rebuilt it. BUT it leaks a bit in one small spot on the way up or down in the same spot. Just a bit...but it holds and does not leak unless you move it to that certain spot.

WP_001791.jpgWP_001792.jpgWP_001789.jpgALSO 2 other things...Tach is not working...any ideas on chasing this down? I also need a face plate for the speedo. Finished my rebuild of the floor, reach seats and deck, and front deck...runs great and looks OK. My first boat project so everyone be nice! The front deck I put a hatch and compartment for the anchor and such. The mat covering is actually lined up but in this picture it looks crooked...or maybe my eyes are. But she gets me back to the ramp so all is well. Touch up the paint that I botched, re-glue carpet on sides and add seat cushions to back bench. Still have to mount pedestal seat on back hatch/deck cover. One day I will spend more than $250 on a boat.

I can get sick on a 85ft as well as a 16.Not very often, but enough to make me take se sick stuff.Just in case??
The only way to make sure the cylinder won't leak is to check the inside the cylinder for
corrosion and make sure the o-ring is the right size?
Some time you can nick an edge?
Good lob on the restore.

I do the same...been see sick once killed a trip to nine mile reef. ever since then I take it just because I want to fish not chum.

There was a issue with the relief valve area in the ram. It was nicked but the area where the o-ring is seated was ok. The nicks were above and below the o-ring area. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Resto job looks good to me. It is probably a lot better of a job then when it rolled out of the factory.

Pull the trim cylinder out, and pull it apart. If it is simply leaking, there is an o ring on the "cover that can easily be replaced. Mine was pinched and deteriorating. Take it off and get it matched up at a local store. If the drive is dropping, it is likely one of the 3 o rings on the piston itself, or damage to the inside of the ram. There are two round (cross section) and one H section o ring on the piston. You should be able to match up the round rings, but the other may be tricky.....

I found the hardest part of the rebuild to be removing the trim cylinder assembly from the mid unit.....

Oh yes...I built a nifty pin puller to get the ram off the foot. It worked awesomely! Well the leak comes from the center shaft when you go up or down about 1 inch on shaft from top position. If you leave it there it will drip...move it back up or down it stops?? Again holds pressure fine also.

The Cape Coral guy is RRitt. I'd use any contact info provided.
