Hello all,
I am a long time reader but new member as i have a question about the electrics of my motor. Again it is a 1989 force 85hp. well here is my ?
On the right (drivers side) of the engine is a large electrical board to which connects all the power packs coils etc... well mine is quite large but is apparently glued on, and the rear most mount has come unglued. the engine runs like a dream but every couple of days of running and the vibration breaks a wire at the connection, causing me to lose a cylinder. I dont know the name of this piece but have seen a smaller straight line version on pics on the web.
what is the official name of this piece an do you know of any aftermarket (smaller) replacements as i have seen.
This is probably a dumb question but i appreciate everyones replies and help.
mike

Re: 1989 85hp force

Thanks 12
No this is not the L drive. Im sorry i didnt put that in the post. The part i need is #72. The 12 point terminal block and it is ordered. Since my huge older one was glued, What type of glue would be best to hold to the block. Thanks for your help. It is greatly appreciated. By the way do you happen to know at or around what year force quit using the large terminal blocks? thanks again. mike

I think 1989 is the last year for the 85HP. If you cant use the original 10x32 machine screws to remount it, I would reccomend "MarineTex", or "JB-Weld".

That terminal strip is generically called a barrier strip. Any electronic supply house has them. They are specified by the number of terminals and screw size. You can always get a longer one and cut it down in length. Radio Shack even carriers some. Typically the black is plastic and the terminals and screws are chrome plated brass.
