I recently inherited a deprived 17' Polar Kraft with a 20hp Johnson tiller. I have replaced the floatation, floor and carpet as well as coat the front deck in truck bedliner for better traction when throwing the throw net. I have installed a gang switch to operate the accessories in the boat and just recently ordered a Lowrance X-4 Pro for the depth finder. So we are very close to putting this baby in the water. I will post pics soon as I am new to the site.
The question that I have is.....I want to convert the motor from tiller to stick steer. I know I will need an ezy glide system and a control box for the shifter and throttle. But I was hoping for some input on this. I like the idea of stick steering so I can be up front and help me see the rivers and lakes I navigate at night for catfish. Also I am thinking of using a Johnson Ship Mate control box and wanted to make sure this box will suffice with the newer model outboard.
All input is welcome and needed.
Thanks in advance.
