Good evening everyone. I've been lurking for a little bit and reading a bunch about the stringer/floor issues that the older Ski Supremes had. So I'm working with a 1988 Ski Supreme 19ft and trying to determine if I need to pull up the floor and stringers. I've started by drilling holes in the floor and stringers. Most were pulling up dry foam for the most part, except when I noticed a little water near the LH engine cover mounts. I decided to cut a larger hole to see how much moisture was there. What I found was about 2" of water in that bay. I've vaccumed it out and it appears to be dry now. And I haven't had any soft spots or obvious signs of wood rot that I can find. I believe this water entered via the extra "lightening" holes where someone tried to mount the engine cover, but never epoxied the extra penetrations. At this point, since I haven't found any wood rot per se, should I just vaccum up the water that I find and seal it up good and address any soft spots in the deck when they arise in the future. I just haven't found any damage that warrants pulling the cap and taking up the floorboards just yet. Any special areas I should look? Near the ski pylon, there was a crack and gel coat chip near the LH mount. I removed the top fiberglass of that area and it looks solid to me. Any thoughts or suggestions for this newbie? Right now, everything looks pretty solid to me. I'm thinking of getting her prepped to a point where we can enjoy our first season with her and work out the issues that arise. We were handed down the boat from family, so we're needing to refresh the interior/teak and give her a good polish at this point.

Anyways, its nice to meet everyone and appreciate anything you may have to add.

A really good way to tell if your eng/ trans is moving is check the alignment on the prop shaft.
Also give the mount bolts a turn if they tight up or can't be turned with reasonable effort the stringers are likely ok there.

If you can't get it to hold alignment there is a good chance the stringers are shot.
