1988 mercruiser 260 9 pin engine harness to 10 pin harness

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I cannot find any literature on this subject directly and I'm trying to get this swap done soon before it starts getting cold in Texas. I recently bought a 1988 slick craft 237sc with a blown engine. I bought a rebuilt mercruiser 260 engine , I believe its a 1987 or 1988 engine. My problem is, is that me boat and engine harness have a 9 pin connectors and the new engine I bought has a 10 pin connector. my question is, how can I get this this to work? will I have to rewire it? can I switch the old engine harness to the new engine? is there a 9 pin to 10 pin adapter? has anyone ran into this issue before?any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

that's was what I originally wanted to do but haven't found an adapter for it. could you possibly send me a link to where I could fond one?

I've done that but haven't found the specific one that I need for my application.

Just use your old harness...differnce likely in distributer modules

Look real close at the back of the harness and count the wires, are there 10 or really just 9

Most cases pin 9 is not used and why it's just blocked off

I will check it out soon. Thank you for the input. could I just swap the engine harness from old engine to the rebuilt one? theoreticallyit should work right if it is the same engine and the same components? ny old engine still runs but spews milkshake so if need be, I could swap the components? Right?

you can swap everything but as AD mentioned you probably dont have to as mentioned yes its ten pin but one is usually not used. what does the matching male plug have on it?
