1988 merc 175 black max running problems

Motor has no power at start but if you stop put it in neutral and rev it to about 2500 rpm then let it idle down the put it in gear it has power but slow at planing out after it planes it runs great it will do about 60mph i ran fuel tank of new gas any thing will help

Sounds like a fuel problem...<br /><br />Tank venting properly?<br />Fuel Filters/Water seperator Clear?<br />Fuel Bulb-does it colapse during the no power periods?<br />May be time for a carb cleaning....<br /><br />Let us know...
