1988 Merc 150 V6

I have a 1988 150 v6 on a 191 Mako. Its only a 20 inch shaft and the boat calls for a 25 inch shaft. I bought the boat as a package this way. I am wondering if I can put a longer mid section and shafts in this outboard to correct the problem? Thanks

Are you sure about that 25" requirement? Where is your anticavitation plate in relation to the bottom of the boat? Properly rigged it should be even with the bottom. Anyway here is a place that sells kits. http://www.marineparts.com/PARTSPAGES/Accessories/ACC8.HTM

yeah, its around 4 to 5 inches above bottom

There was a midsection spacer for that motor. You would need to locate a junker and remove it , or swap with someonw wgho needs a 20". You newed to changte the gearcase to get the longer shaft, the spacer, water tube extender, shiftshaft extender and longer midsection studs.
