Hello all, this engine has run flawlessly for several years until a week ago. Operating at 4000rpm when there was a great bang! The engine sputtered and would not restart. I tried restarted a week later, it started fine but makes a clack-clack sound which sounds like it's coming from the bottom end of the crank. Engine also seems way down on power and the clack-clack sound is very loud under accelartion.
So far I have done the following;
-Good visible spark from all three plugs,
-Compression in all three cylinders (havent done a compression test yet as the boat is at the cottage),
-Inspected the bottom of the crank (bearings) and found it was clean and dry,
I am seeking any suggestions to troubleshoot this problem.
