1988 Johnson 88hp Engine increasing(racing) idle

Recently placed carb kits on motor (1988 johnson 88hp). Now it starts fine, runs strong but will race and idle high. Ran a tank full of fuel on Friday fishing. Noticed oily residue on transom. Seemed to use more fuel than usual.

Are you using the oil mixing system or pre-mix?

Check for an air leak on your gasoline lines.
