I was cruising at a fast idle last night and it seemed like i might have hit something. The depth was about 80 feet so the only thing I might have hit would have been a log. I still went about 300 yards to the boat ramp. It seems that there is some play now in the prop. It seems the shaft has movement back and forth. Any help would be appreciated.

You may have a clutch dog starting to go unless you did hit something. Check your g/c oil. Is the prop shaft play ene to end or side to side ??

It is only 1/16th of an inch play but I dont think it had any before. There may also be a ping like something hit from inside about an inch below and forward of the water intake on the left side. I am planning on taking the foot off tomorrow and checking it out.

There's always just a little bit of end to end play in the prop shaft, that's normal. On the other hand the slightest amount of runout (wobble) is reason for concern.

I may be wrong but the "ping" doesn't sound good.
