1988 evinrude 200 xp

My engine isnt firing. Anyone have an idea of what typically causes this or a list I can start troubleshooting. I checked the killswitch and it was intact. My bemdix also seems to stay engaged in the flywheel. Does that mean I need a new starter? Thanks for any help.

There's a slew of things that could be wrong, with very specific tests for each one. You need to get a factory service manual.

As far as the starter, when's the last time you libricated the bendix? A couple drops of a light oil (3-in-1, etc.) on the shaft every few months.
