1988 9.9 capacity

hi all,
i have a 1988 9.9 merc, and am curious to know it's capacity. i think it's around 210cc and the 15hp 252cc?
if so, when did the capacity jump to the same as athe 15. was hoping to uprate the 9.9, but guess it will be pointless
if it's a smaller capacity!

My 91 9.9 is 210 cc, the 15 262 cc, no go. I believe it started in 92.

1995 and newer is where i see the change in my manual
