1988 8 hp EVINRUDE

What is the proper float level and float drop for the carb on a 1988 8 hp evinrude motor?. When I tilt the motor some gas leaks out and I can't tell if it is coming from the motor itself or from the carb. Also this motor starts and runs well when cold but won't run at higher speed once it warms up. Consequently I bought and installed a new carb kit but it did not cure the problems. The model # is E8RLCUD in case it's needed. Any thoughts regarding this problem and what to do about it will be much apprecated.
