1988 70hp johnson water pump

there was no water comming from the tel tale on my johnson 70hp so i have replaced the impeller , there is still no water comming fom the tell tale , its not blocked as water comes out of it if i put a hose into the themostat housing - any help would be apreciated?

Is the impeller turning ?? is the motor overheating, is the key properly installed on the
impeller ?? Did you test the water pump function with a drill in a pail or similar before re-installing the lower unit ??

hi thanks for your help took it apart again , and found that the flushing device connected to my hose pipe was not pushing the water up into the pump causing an air lock i pushed the device on tight either side of the inlet and the water started comming out of the tel tale .
