Great motor - however when it gets hot it will not start at all. Turns over fast, plenty of fuel, but no fire. Will run all day until I turn it off. (Have to add a little extra idle the hotter it gets) Try and start it 10 minutes later - no luck. Give it 20 minutes and it will sputter a little bit. Give her 30 total minutes and it starts like it forgot it was broke. I've heard several things - stator, pickup, rectifiers and powerpack. Anybody have any ideas or basic testing procedures?

Thanks!
Eric Byrd

While running on the muffs at home. Point a hair drier closely at the suspect components. When it dies, you've found the defective part..

Rick just gave you the quickest, cheapest and one of the most accurate tests out there.

Try it, you'll find it.

Beach

You have an electrical component that is failing when it gets hot(After the motor runs for a bit). The advice I gave you is simply to simulate the same condition that occurs after the motor runs for a while and warms up whatever electrical component is at fault.. Do this test right after you start it up, so the components are still running relatively cold. I hope this explains it better...
