1988 6 hp johnson

bought a clean 1988 6 hp johnson last summer started first pull ran strong then would not start again , previous owner said never had problem with it . took it to marina they repaced carb .took it out 1 pull start ran strong would not start again . took it back they had motor for 2 months{have another motor thank goodness} took it out same start but restarted it 5-6 times while we fished -then it would not start. took out today and had same thing happen 1 start -run strong -fish for 1 hr go to move wont start. it doesnt even seem like it is getting spark as it doesnt even sputter or sound llike it wants to start ive disconnected the gas from motor and let sit and nothing. but if i took it out tommorow it would start first pull .any suggestions on what my problem might be , thanks

Check your lanyard safety switch. It may be that vibration is messing with the switch, or making it loose. Buy a new lanyard, too. They tend to not work as well after awhile, for some reason.

That'd be my best guess, anyhow. You might even have to replace the switch itself. It could be faulty, but only when warmed or vibrated.
