I don't know your particular boat so not familiar with its kill switch. Typical kill switches will have a clip and length of line attached to them. When the clip gets pulled, it kills the engine. These are generally one of two types. First is one that looks like a push button with the clip that slides under the button to hold it open during normal operation. Pull the clip and the button snaps closed. The other is a toggle switch that has the clip hooked over the toggle that when pulled it flips the switch closed. Do you have picture of the button you are asking about and a picture of you overall dash assembly? Does the push button stay open when you pull it up and stay down when you push down on it? Does the engine start and run independent of the push button position. Also kill switches are normally red. Could it be a horn button?
