Hi everyone. First of all I would like to say how much I LOVE ya'lls forum. After reading a few it gave me the confidence to try and take on my own restore. Heres my story...Ive got a 1987 Sea Ray thats been in my family since 1989. Its been taken care of up untill it was passed down to my brother. He left it out in the elements for about 5yrs. and did a crappy repair job on the center walk way. That led to ROT:mad:. The board the holds up the front engine mount is rotted out bad and other areas as well. The seats are starting to crack under this hot Texas sun so those will be replaced. The engine is a 3.0l and the drive are both working but needs some care. I've looked at some great projects here and can't wait to start mine. I know all my questions have been anwsered so far in these forums and im looking forward to picking ya'lls brains. I do have a few issues holding me back...time being the big one. The old lady and I are having girl next month. So heres my game plan...Remove the engine/drive, cap, seats, floor. *Crossing fingers that the transome is good.* I am new to this but like I said, I have confidence going into this. Im a big DIY kind of person and I know how to use a power tool. I've got some great memories with this boat and would like to keep the same design as original. Thinks for reading. Heres some recent pics of her.

Let me be the first to welcome you to iboats. This is the best forum on the web hands down. You will get all the info and help you will need here.
Nice Sea Ray. same year and modle as mine cept mine is red. I must say the interior is in great shape for her age. Where in Texas are you?

Anyway I have rebuilt mine stringers deck bow the whole thing cept I was lucky and transone was good. from the looks of your you might be good as well. Sea Ray makes one hell of a boat and rebuilding them is fun just very time consuming.

Really nice looking boat. Definitely worth the effort to get her back to 100% again. Good luck with your project.

So is Shiner B your name or a liquid refreshment reference?

I love canyon looking forward to spending time on that lake. Most of my lake time is on Livigston north of Houston. My Daughters got a cabin on the lake so I take full advantage of that. I was just at lake New Braunsfel last wednesday at 6AM. I really do not remember a lake being there. LOL

Hope when you get your deck up you do not find to much damage. These Sea Rays like to breakdown right at the tank area below deck. Many that I looked at last year when I was shopping had this issue. forward and aft being ok but the center floor and stringers rotten. If your spent most of it's life being cared for you might only need new deck. Hope so as you pic's look really nice for an 87.

I should be updateing my thread this weekend as I have not posted new pic's lately. I am currently ready to reinstall the new deck so I have pics of the stringers and tank area. One thing I will pass on to you...If you need to rebuild the console supports be sure to provide temporary support as these are very heavy and will sag inward and twist the windshield. A mistake I made. It's fixed now but was a scary moment when I thought I had ripped the cap.

Good luck and any questions I will try my best to answer.
