I have a 1987 Four Winns with a GMC v6. Sometimes the engine will start immediately and run great but sometime when I try to start the engine it may start again or it may just crank without any hint of spark or fire to the engine. If it doesn't start I can put a spray of starting fluid in the carb yet still no hint of fire or spark. The fact that I am putting starting fluid in and still no fire leads me to believe I don't have fire to the plugs. The engine just turns over. if it starts and runs I can shut it off and restart it but if I wait a while and try to start it again it may not start or fire at all. It's almost like I loose spark to the engine all together sometimes. I bought a spark tester and will test it to see if my no spark theory is true. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Could it be a bad / or going bad ignition control module? thanks!
