I was out fishing last weekend, boat was running fine. I ended a drift and started boat to move to pilings to fish. I was jogging the boat in neutral close to pilings while my friend fished off the bow. After jockeying the boat back in forth for several minutes in and out of gear to stay close to pilings, the boat died. I restarted it but I had to lift the fast idle lever to keep it running and then slam it into gear to move. I took the boat out in the channel to try and "clean it out" boat ran great midrange and WOT. However throttling down to lower rpms the boat now consistently stalls when the rpms go below 1100. I managed to get back to slip and called it quits for the day out of frustration. The next morning I started boat as normal, but I had to again keep the fast idle lever up to keep the motor running. I cannot get the motor to idle in neutral now at all. My first thinking was maybe a fuel problem, but the boat starts and will run if I keep the idle lever up, and it ran well at WOT. I am leading towards the Stator gone bad. Last year in beginning of season I had to replace both switchboxes bc I had no spark on 1 3 5 bank. Looking for some advice of the cuff. I am researching the diff DVA tests to do on the motor and some other stuff. Boat is 2 hrs away at shore and I plan on going down this Sunday to work on it. Just looking for some additional tips if possible. One thing I noticed is that when I squeeze the prime bulb it takes about 6 pumps to get the bulb firm, AND when I squeeze I hear a wheezing/hissing noise around the fuel tank area. Am I supposed to hear anything when squeezing bulb? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Mike
