1987 Johnson/evinrude E110xcur. Wondering two things about this motor. From info I gathered it is supposed to have a belly pan. It does not. Curious about why it wouldn’t . I believe it was rebuilt and maybe is a modified motor now?
A issue I’m having is it started idling too high. It idles fine in gear but high in neutral. Would this be caused by cable stretch?

What do you mean by ---" belly pan "----here?----Or are you referring to the exhaust bubble ?

That would be the outer exhaust housing.------Your power head may be a 90 HP version.----Or an older 115 HP ( powerhead rated ).-----It may involve a bit of machining if you are keen to install that.----Do those plug wires have a metal core?----And why are they so long ?

I haven’t been able to find a good source on these wires.. I used marineengine but it came disassembled.

Refered to a "bubble back" exhaust expansion space.

What do you call a high idle rpm wise?

It was idling fine for an entire weekend 500-650. Then the next time I took it out it idled around 1,000 I believe the cables are stretched as I can go to the throttle bracket and simply touch it back into place.

You could disconnect the cable and see if everything is moving as freely as it should.
Could be some dried up lube causing it to hang up and not return.

Thank y’all. Going back to this 110 being either a 90 or 115. My manual is for a 110 and all the parts I have bought are for a 110 and everything seems fine so far. Should there be concern on the power head getting 110 parts and services w 110 recommendations from manual?

These motors were all nearly the same from about 1980 to 1998.----In fact pistons are the same in a 1974 115 HP and a 1998 model.

pop throttle cable out. shift to forward then back just before you click into neutral. adjust throttle cable in trunnion with thumbwheel to get slack out. re-install cable. done. jsut make sure low speed adjust screw is firmly against it's stop or it will idle high.
