Hello All,
I have a 87 Johnson 6hp with no manual, model J6RCUD does this engine have points or is it, electronic ignition? if points are present what would the gap size be? and also what would the torque lbs on the flywheel be when re-installed.
This is the problem I'm having: when I attemp to start the engine. I would turn the throttle to the white arrows on the steering arm (see pic below) then I would prime the fuel to engine pull the cord and nothing. Then I try it with the choke pulled halfway out and still nothing. Now when I set the throttle to the area where the 2 half round lines on the arm (see pic) with the choke halfway it will start. But idle on the high side. When I turn the throttle back toward the 2 white arrows it will stall. Now keep in mind the piece between the red kill switch and the throttle I Have no clue what the it's for.
Any Help Would be Greatful.
Thanks
Al
