I've been watching one listed here, if it had a 4.3 I'd be much more interested. In my case, I really want an SS, and would convert it, so I keep looking, hoping for a 20-22 SS.

A 20-22 Holiday might fit the bill. Probably have to move the windshield back

My only requirement for a project boat - tin can. So much easier to rehab and tow. If I was shopping for a turnkey, I would most likely seek out a center console 24-26’ with a couple 125’s on the back. But for the price I paid for what I got - I would never even consider bringing a fiberglass boat home.

The only glass boats I bring home are for the motors/controls and the trailers that carry them. Then, Off to the crusher!!!

DLN: Not sure what your hesitation is, honestly I wouldn't hesitate if it's Mercruiser four-banger. Like I said previously, doubt I'll ever need the additional power of the 4.3. I had a 190 in a 22' sport boat for many years.
Easily got 35 knots with four adults and pulled many a skier. Best part was I could fill up for the weekend and never worry about what I did or went.

Something to think about - there is a lot of Alpha 1 boats out there with viable 140-190 engines and outdrives that make a replacement or repair cheap cause everybody wants, but really doesn't need something bigger.

Years ago our neighbor at the cabin had a SS18 with a 120 or 140 4 cylinder - it wasn't very impressive as a speed demon. A 18/20 or 22 with a 4.3 would be a bit more "spritely". A few years ago I passed on a 20 or 22 with a 350 Chev. I probably should have gotten it.

the boat is a 1989. It needs a motor. was removed before purchasing. The flooring is just getting a bit soft in some small areas so new floors. the motor cover is not not good The rest of the boat seems to have little use so in good shape. need to check auto pilot to see if it works. need to add electronics, radios, lighting. need to figure out moldings around windows, very weathered. need to pull gas tank check and clean. replace hoses to gas tank, and i guess whatever i find along the way.
