The boat that I am doing had the bow eye bolted through a piece of wood.------It now has 2 bow eyes in place with " non rotting " material.------I regularly visit a place where the yard is littered with boats.-----Fortunately the former owners listened to the advice when they were told.-----" this boat is rotten to the core and unsafe"

Mine looked and ran great, too. I used it for an entire season. Everything was solid, no soft spots in the deck, no flex in the transom... then I tried to tighten a bolt that held the boarding ladder in place and this is ultimately where it led me. A rotten transom, soaked flotation foam, and deck board that were well on their way to rotting.

With your budget, you could easily double that budget if you can do all the work yourself !! Then after a complete rebuild, you could not get your money back by selling it..well worth the expense of dropping a couple hundred for a hull inspection. It coukd save you thousands!!
