I just bought a 19.5" bayliner capri with an outboard 1987 Force 125hp on the back of it. The previous owner said that the motor creeps down during transport and while its in the water. The motor runs great and this is the only thing wrong with it. The trim holds the motor but the tilt is the one that doesnt hold. Im thinking it is a cylinder problem? How can i fix this?

Thanks,

That is probably the pump valve body. Tilt is a smaller diameter piston than trim and therefore needs less pressure to hold engine in place. I don't know anyone else that rebuilds them. A home rebuild might works for a season or two. You may be able to find a new one since Prestolite designs were also used on Chrysler, Mercury, Evinrude, Johnson, Volvo, and Suzuki. If you can find new i would expect $200-$300 ea.
