Anyone have an idea on what gap to set the stops for those recirc reeds? Finding nothing in the manual.

Bubba, the OEM service manual do not mention any gap value.
It says "Inspect reeds and reed stop for flatness and damage. Replace if needed".
Check the surface and the pedals should rest to the surface with no gap that you can notice with your eyes.
That is my suggestion.

Supposed to be no gap BUT!! .008- .010 is acceptable.
Their function is to stop the air from back feeding through the front of the carb.
A tiny bit of opening is ok.
The reeds aren't the problem. Bucking, kicking and coughing is more than likely the results of the motor sucking air somewhere.
One TINY backfire or cough is enough to blow the port cover gaskets.
Do the starting fluid test to find the place that's letting air in.

You are referring to the recirc reeds from the fuel recirc system. No there shouldn't be any gap. If there is then it is time to replace it. Check also make sure it still opens and closes. Stiff reeds can also be a problem due to crud build up.

Thanks All, what I was referring to is the gap between the reed and the stop plate - how much gap should there be to allow the reed to open before it hits this stop? They all look about the same so I'm trusting they are good.

I do have another question. Would you use gasket sealant on these reed plate cover gaskets (2x on each cover) or just use the gaskets? I'm leaning towards not using gasket sealant due to how close the gasket surfaces come to the reeds and those tiny screens - risk of clogging looks like! But do these gaskets seal well on these covers? I normally always use sealant just to be safe.

A thin film wouldn't hurt but I normally do not use gasket sealant not even on the heads.
