1987 evinrude 70hp

Just got this engine and at idle runs great.took to the water left the dock at low speed and was running fine, ran good until I hit w.o.t., ran for about 2 min and lost power. idled back to dock, when got home found fuel coming out of the front of the carbs. rebuilt carbs and still no power above idle while under load.comp. is within limits. new coils, new spark plugs. Am at a loss now.on muffs idles great and on water it will power right up until it is under load. any help many thanks.

did you check for spark when the unit malfunctions? Could be a CD pack failing...

compression, spark checks, did you remove the jets and use kits when you did the carbs.

used new card kits on carbs, need to check spark when it fails haven't done that yet,thanks will try that next..

spark is failing when losing power, have new power pack ordered. thanks for all the help. will post after changing power pack with results.
