1987 Enirude 4hp fuel mix?

Fuel ratio please, for, Evinrude 4hp-2cylinder-2cycle. 1987- model#BE4RCUD - serial#B1547926. Used on sailing boat, currently running on 50:1 (as previous owner). It's a bit smokey, some suggest it should be 100:1. Advice/opinions please. Thanks Al.

Ask the folks suggesting 100:1 if they're willing to pay your repair bills. 50:1 is correct for your engine.<br /><br />You ought to see the smoke from my older-generation engine when I run 24:1 mixture....

Try using a TCW3-JASO synthetic or syn-blend oil, I have seen dramatic smoke reduction using these products.
